Resonance 104.4fm Announces A Major Commitment To Books Coverage

Tony White, author and chair of the board of directors of Resonance104.4fm, London’s award-winning arts radio station, today confirmed a sustained commitment to regular books programming across the Resonance104.4fm schedules, in advance of Resonance’s special live broadcast of Jerwood Fiction Uncovered FM on 13 July.

Resonance104.4fm, which last week had its Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation funding renewed, broadcasts on FM across London, online via the RadioPlayer app, and worldwide via a webstream to audiences in excess of 3 million.

Resonance104.4fm recently broadcast the Index Freedom of Expression Awards 2014 live from the Barbican, London, covered the Wellcome Book Prize, and is taking part in the Port Eliot Festival 2014.

Jerwood Fiction Uncovered FM will broadcast live on Resonance 104.4FM on Sunday July 13 from noon to 5pm. Presented by Arifa Akbar, literary editor of The Independent and i newspapers, the special five-hour broadcast celebrates The Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize, awarded annually to eight British writers of outstanding works of fiction. Jerwood Fiction Uncovered FM features prize-winning authors Lesley Glaister, Evie Wyld, Gareth R Roberts, Ben Brooks, Bernardine Evaristo, Naomi Wood, Cynan Jones, and many more guests to be announced.

Resonance104.4fm also confirmed a regular slot for children’s book programme Down the Rabbit Hole, presented by Katherine Woodfine, arts project manager at reading charity Booktrust, and Melissa Cox, children’s buyer for Waterstones. Down the Rabbit Hole broadcasts at teatime on the last Tuesday of each month. Next show Tuesday 29 July 5:00— 5:30pm, repeated the following Sunday 7:00am.

Little Atoms — A talk show about ideas and culture, produced and presented by Neil Denny. Each show features a guest from the worlds of science, journalism, politics, academia, human rights or the arts in conversation. Recent guests include Jonathan Meades, Cory Doctorow, John Sutherland, Deborah Orr. (Little Atoms host Denny anchored the live broadcast of the Index Awards.)

Weekly: Saturdays 10:00-11:00am, repeated Wednesday 11:00am.

Interesting Conversations — Topical literary discussion with Wendy Jones. Recent guests include Caroline Sanderson, Jacqueline Wilson, Jung Chang, Tracy Chevalier.

Literary London — Nick Hennegan explores the literary life of London and celebrates the popular cultural life and literary history of the city. Recent guests include Caroline Morris, Rebecca Rouliard (Writers Hub), Glenn Chandler.

Weekly: Fridays 7:00—8:00pm, repeated Wednesday 7:00am.

Panel Borders — Alex Fitch explores the art and culture of comics and graphic novels with practitioners worldwide. Recent guests include Michael Chabon, David Shrigley, Paul Gravett and John Harris Dunning.

Weekly: Mondays 4:30—5:00pm, repeated Thursday 11:00am.

Experimental Poetics — Poet and writer Anna McKerrow talks to fellow experimental poets from around the UK. Recent guests include Ryan Ormonde, Richard Barrett, Sarah James.

Weekly: Tuesdays 9:00—10:00pm, repeated Saturday 7:00pm.

Lit-Bits — Adam Smyth, tutor in English at Balliol College, Oxford, and journalist James Kidd examine literature from curious and surprising angles. Guests have included Paul Myerscough (LRB), Lynn Shepherd, Dinah Roe.
