Spoken Ink

Spoken Ink offers downloadable audio recordings of many of the greatest short stories ever written. Read by actors such as Timothy Bentinck, Prunella Scales, Harriet Walter, Timothy West and Martin Jarvis, the stories range from ten minutes to two hours in length and are suitable for bed-time listening, jogging, gardening, commuting or snoozing in your favourite chair.

Downloads sell from 99p, representing a serious shift in the sale of recorded literature, which until now has been priced at the same level as books.

The Spoken Ink story collection features best-selling authors Peter Carey, Angela Carter, Haruki Murakami, A L Kennedy and Vikas Swarup alongside a number of up-and-coming writers and much loved classics. The launch of the audio short story site comes at a time when poetry and short stories are becoming increasingly popular with the public.

Spoken Ink’s audio stories can be downloaded in mp3 format and listened to on any device as well as burnt onto CD. Subscribe to the site for as little £3.30 a month and download any four stories you like from the Spoken Ink library. Submit your short story for the Spoken Ink audio story competition. The short list will be recorded and posted on the website for users to vote on. The winner will receive £250.

You can also use Spoken Ink to give audio stories to friends or gift a subscription.
