Digital Project Interns x2 – Headline

We are seeking two temporary interns to work on an exciting project to review and rejuvenate the digital sales of some of our backlist titles, ensuring that we can bring our saga, crime and women’s fiction titles to the broadest possible audience.
This is a really exciting opportunity to get involved in a publishing project where you will see tangible results quickly.
We are seeking two interns to drive this project, you must have a demonstrable interest in books, be self-starting and highly motivated, with a real commercial instinct.
Social Media Intern: This role will work on refreshing metadata, driving traffic to our titles, building and engaging an online community of readers; working with bloggers and building awareness of our fantastic backlist titles, analysing and focusing the outcomes of your social media activity.
Design Intern: To take a fresh look at the covers and packaging of the digital product, refreshing and adapting the covers where necessary. Producing tweet cards and using photoshop to support the social media activity.
Digital Officer -Edinburgh International Festival

The Edinburgh International Festival is looking for an experienced, passionate and dedicated Digital Officer (long term contract) to join the team. We want you to help us deliver this unparalleled celebration of the performing arts, which brings some of the most exciting and creative artists working today to audiences from around the world.
You will have at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role and a desire to pursue a career in digital communications. Experience working with websites and social media in a professional capacity is essential, as is the ability to work under your own initiative and as part of a team. The job is initially offered for an 18 month contract, with potential for extension for the right candidate.
Project Wrangler- Bookswarm

East Anglian web agency Bookswarm is seeking a part-time Project Wrangler to assist our busy team in the delivery of projects.
This is a virtual role for someone who can work from home. There is a possibility of occasional meetings in London and or the South East but this is not vital to the role. We would expect it to be a minimum of 5 hours a week at £10 per hour, with the possibility of working up to 15 hours a week. You will need a fast, reliable Internet connection in order to perform the role.
You will need to be flexible, efficient, very organised, very web literate and with excellent client-facing skills. You need to be able to write a good email!
Project Manager – Jerwood Compton Poetry Fellowships

We seek an experienced and highly organised individual with an excellent track record of managing projects, ideally in the literary sector though we are very open to experience from other areas. This role will be responsible for the development and delivery of the first edition of the Jerwood Compton Poetry Fellowships. The ideal candidate will have worked successfully with artists to support the development of their practice. They will be an adept communicator with the proven ability to bring value to the project, overseeing a career-enhancing year for the three selected Fellows.
The role will work as part of the JCF team, reporting to the Director and alongside the General Manager and Communications Manager.
Digital Executive – Ladybird and Puffin

We are looking for a highly organised and creative Digital Marketing Manager FTC who is passionate about our brand to help bring to life a new audience initiative Penguin Living around our Self Development titles including promoting events, courses and workshop, and also develop a marketing strategy for our Penguin E-Commerce pilot.
This is an FTC position which will be initially on a 6 month contract with the potential to extend.
Reporting to the Audience Development Director, this is an exciting, hands-on opportunity to build marketing campaigns for the brand new Penguin E-Commerce pilot from scratch. You’ll create and commission compelling content and marketing materials for both the E-commerce and Penguin Living audiences, as well as spread the word about the E-commerce pilot and Penguin Living respectively via our social media channels, websites and Penguin Living and E-Commerce newsletters.

Lecturer/Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow in Creative Writing – Liverpool Hope University

The successful candidate will have a PhD in an aspect of Creative Writing and will be expected to contribute to existing provision within the department, be involved in new curriculum developments and engage with the research profile of the team. S/he should possess the ability to contribute to both theoretical and applied classes and should have the potential to develop and deliver a Masters in Creative Writing, and supervise PhDs. Desirable areas of expertise include Dialogue, especially Screenwriting, Narrative and Fiction, Professional Writing such as journalism, copy-writing and/or writing for digital media, Publishing and Commissioning.
The successful candidate will contribute to lectures on ‘Writing Technique’ and ‘Writing Values’ on topics related to their PhD research. Future teaching will include the publishing business and/or producing and commissioning new writing as well as dissertation supervision. Experience of teaching Creative Writing to undergraduates and knowledge of the pedagogy of the discipline are required as well as facilitation of writing workshops.

The scheme is aimed at encouraging applications from talent currently under-represented in TV Drama – including women, disabled talent, BAME talent, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
We want to hear from emerging UK talent who bring a distinct and alternative view of modern Britain. We are looking for 3 writers and 3 directors to take part in the initiative. The successful applicants will have the opportunity to work on a new three part series of half-hour, interconnected films. One big story, told via three unique points of view, made by new diverse talent. This ambitious series will be broadcast on Channel 4.
As part of the paid development programme writing-trainees will participate in a writer’s room out of which the series will be created. They will be tutored by and work with experienced drama producers at Touchpaper TV where their scripts will be developed. The process will see trainee writers and directors learn how to hone their skills and deliver their vision under the guidance of experienced drama professionals. They will also be mentored by high profile drama talent, and will take part in a bespoke training programme to run alongside and beyond the production of the series. It will include masterclasses, networking sessions, coaching, career development and access to key industry events.
Website Digital Manager – The Heritage Lottery Fund

The Heritage Lottery Fund is recruiting for a Website and Digital Manager who will be responsible for the management and development of all Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF) branded digital channels.
This includes the HLF and NHMF websites, as well as other communications tools, such as E:communications and social media. You will have line management responsibility for two Digital Website Editors and dotted-line responsibility for the Social Media Editor.
Flight 1000 – Spread the Word

Spread the Word has opened the application window for their Flight 1000 scheme. Flight 1000 is a paid Associates scheme that develops the career opportunities of London writers who want to enter the publishing industry, and who have been excluded due to social and /or financial disadvantage.
Each Flight Associate receives a bursary of £10,000 across 12 months, which supports them for a total of 1000 hours through 2017. During their year, Associates take on editorial responsibility for Spread the Word’s Flight Journal of short fiction, and also take up several weeks of industry placements including (twice Booker-winning) Oneworld Publications, and Jacaranda. The scheme also includes some funding for training, and regular mentoring from Spread the Word.
