Digital focus at Guernsey Literary Festival 2012

Experts from the fields of publishing, digital writing and interactive TV will gather in Guernsey this weekend – September 15th and 16th – to discuss the rise of digital publishing and what it means for authors, readers and publishers.

The discussions, sponsored by Jersey Telecom and Launchpad Digital, are part of the second annual Guernsey Literary Festival, which this year includes more than 20 different speakers and over 50 separate events.

Industry experts debating the future of publishing include speakers from Random House, Channel 4, and the Bookseller.

Festival-goers will also get the chance to use the very latest generation of eBooks. Melissa Mitchell of Launchpad Digital and coordinator for the digital events at this year’s festival said:

“We’re giving the festival a strong digital flavour this year, with discussions, demonstrations and self-publishing workshops. The importance of download sales, the emergence of a new breed of interactive eBook apps, and even the future of the printed book will all make for hugely interesting areas of discussion in our digital events.”

Expert panels discussing the future of the book will include:

Dan Franklin – Digital Publisher at Random House Group, the UK’s largest publishing company; Hillary Perkins – Head of Cross Platform at Channel 4; Tim Wright

BAFTA award winning writer, producer and director at XPT; Jeff Norton – Hollywood author, filmmaker, creative producer & Intellectual Property specialist; Michael Bhaskar
