The Devil’s Dictionary for iPad and iPhone

The Devil’s Dictionary is a collection of satirical aphorisms, first published as newpaper items and then as a satirical reference work in 1911. It is one of the greatest works of American satire.

DICTIONARY, n.

A malevolent literary device for cramping the growth of a language and making it hard and inelastic. This dictionary, however, is a most useful work.
